Newborough Forest
The CL site is located near to the popular Newborough Forest and is known for its population of red squirrles. The forest has waymarked trails for each of walking, running and cycling.
Newborough Forest also hosts a free, weekly, timed 5km parkrun on Saturdays at 9am (registration on parkrun website required).
Llanddwyn Island
Traeth Llanddwyn and Ynys Llanddwyn (Llanddwyn Beach and Llanddwyn Island) are spectacular, rich in heritage, folklore, geology and wildlife.
Llanddwyn Island is home to the legend of Santes Dwynwen, the patron satint of lovers.

Rhuddgaer Giant Stepping Stones
Located behind the CL site are the Giant Stepping stones across the Afon Braint river, which gives its name to the CL site.
Take a gentle stroll to the stones and if you're feeling brave cross to the other side. Continue your walk beyond the stones or return home.
The stones are located on the Coastal Paths for Anglesey and Wales, which provide continuous coastal walking paths.
Sightseeing
Discover the rich history that Anglesey provides with the fabulous Beaumaris Castle, one of Wales’s greats, close by the castle are the Gaol (featuring penal treadmills) and the old Court House.
Near to the CL site is Llys Rhosyr (only remaining Court of the Welsh princes) and there's also the National Trust’s Plas Newydd house and gardens to enjoy and explore.
Delve deeper into the past with the amazing copper landscape of Parys Mountain and the mystical Bryn Celli Ddu, the sacred burial mound of the druids.

Get Close to Nature
Anglesey is known for its array of rare species of birds, flora and of course red squirrels too!
Down the road from the CL site are the sand dunes of Newborough Warren, home to wild horses. There's also Llyn Rhos Ddu Nature Reserve with a lake and a hide for bird watching.
Newborough Forest's Llyn Parc Mawr is one of the best places on Anglesey to see Red Squirrels and a great spot for a picnic too.
